Friends of Harmonie State Park Outdoor Education Pavillion!
We are excited to introduce the Outdoor Education Pavilion! Plans call for a 30′ x 50′ structure with a partial brick wall all around the Tree Cookie (sponsored by the Old Beech Cemetery Board) built into the front wall. This new structure will be built in the woods directly behind the Nature Center. It will provide much needed space for larger educational programs than the existing Nature Center can hold, as well as many other events put on by Harmonie State Park, the Friends of Harmonie State Park, and the Campground Host Program!
Expected costs are $70,000. We have raised half of these funds from grants through Posey County Community Foundation ($7,200), WIN Energy/Operation Round UP ($7,500), Toyota Foundation ($5,000), Vectren Foundation ($5,000), Old Beech Cemetery Board ($6,000) and the West Side Nut Club ($500). Midwest Roofing and Sheet Metal has agreed to provide materials and labor to help cover some expenses, and ECI is donating labor to get footers in and set steel. We have committed funds from our capital account – but we still need more to cover the complete cost!
To help fund this, we are implementing a Brick Program. For donations of $100 or more, we will put your name or family’s name on a brick that will go in the sidewalk at the entrance to the OEP.
