Friends of Harmonie State Park Outdoor Education Pavilion!
Unbelievable is the only way we can describe this. American RV and 4S properties EACH donated $10,000 towards the Outdoor Education Pavilion and it has allowed us to begin construction! The most amazing thing about this is WE DIDN’T EVEN ASK them to donate. They donated $5,000 when FHSP first got started that funded the stage and we made a decision to not ask them again. JB Strassweg, President of American RV was at the American RV Customer Appreciation Campout last year and saw we wanted to build this and knew they needed to help.
They discussed it as a family and decided they wanted to give back to the community that has supported them for years. The gift couldn’t have come at a better time. While we had raised a lot of money, construction costs were much more than anticipated and we had no idea how we were going to get the money to do this. We got grant money from most of the grants we applied to and our brick program raised some money – but not nearly enough.
This generous donation is making this project a reality. Thank you, THANK YOU American RV and the Strassweg family for all your support over the years.
We need to again thank all our sponsors. Without these benefactors, this would not be possible –
- WIN Energy ($7,500)
- Posey County Community Foundation ($7,200)
- Old Beech Cemetery Board ($6,000)
- Toyota Foundation ($5,000)
- Vectren Foundation ($5,000)
- Indiana Parks Alliance ($3,000)
- Mike and Lisa Weber ($2,500)
- WSI ($1,000)
- The West Side Nut Club ($500)
ECI provided labor to level the lot and put the foundation in, IMI provided concrete at a discount and HG McCullough Designers for design work. We have also committed funds from our FHSP capital account—but we still need more to cover the complete cost!
You can still be a part of this great project
For donations of $100 or more, you can get a brick, with your family’s name, that will go in the sidewalk at the entrance of the OEP.
